Here it is, Part 3 of 3 of our Oahu getaway and my 51st birthday…

We decided to spend my 51st birthday on the big slides at Wet n’ Wild Hawaii.
Nothing could make you feel younger, or older on your birthday, than spending a day riding slides at a waterpark.

Fortunately, I felt young, in fact I felt like a true kid…
I also counted it as a full day of exercise, since I climbed no less than a dozen long stairways, while lugging up rafts or tubes to the top of each slide.

The views from the top of this waterpark were unsurpassed by any waterpark I’d ever been to.
Can you spot far-off Diamond Head in this pic I took of my feet before sloshing down the slide?

Michael had spent a month on the eastside of Oahu over two decades ago, and he had many memories he wanted to share with Max and I.
So we ventured out from the northshore, and down to the east side in a quest to find the places of his memories. Along the way we found this Polynesian style McDonald’s.

Then we found Chinaman’s Hat.
This tiny island’s real name is Mokolii, which means “little lizard”. But, because of its cone shape, which resembles the peasant hats worn in rural China, it is know among locals as Chinaman’s Hat.
Max took this photo of Michael and I, good job Max.

We used my iPhone’s GPS mapping to find our way to Roundtable Pizza in Kailua (Michael’s all time favorite pizza, and a real treat, since there’s not a single one on Kauai).
We also found fresh, tropical smoothies and acai bowls (Max’s new healthy replacement for ice cream) at Lanikai Juice, highly recommended.

After lunch we arrived at gorgeous, white sand, Lanikai Beach.

This is one of the spots Michael had spent a lot of time at, and we now understand why.
It is such a pretty beach, with baby powder white sand, and warm calm waters…

And some pretty gnarly trees that made worthy climbing for our little monkey boy.
We had a blast bringing in my 51st year. Making the mantra for this year…Fifty-one is full of fun!
Loved sharing my 51st birthday fun with you…
And as always, mahalo for joining me on my journey beyond fifty!

Joy, your family is so beautiful. I love that Michael wanted to take you two to the places he remembered! Sounds like an amazing celebration.
Thank you Ashley. I am one lucky girl to have the opportunity to share it with you.
That looked like lots of youthful fun for all the Jonah’s glad you all got to explore the whole island of Oahu together.
It was a great family vacation and birthday celebration…a super two-for-one.
